Playing Consequences with Ghost Signs – Talks and Interactive Workshop: This session will explore the storytelling possibilities invited by London’s ‘ghost’ signs, the fading remains of painted advertising on walls. Researcher, archivist and tour guide Sam Roberts will begin by introducing the topic, alongside some of the stories he has uncovered in his own investigations. This will include the use of established facts about signs as a springboard into more speculative interpretations. Following this brief overview, participants will work in groups to develop collective, and potentially surreal, stories based on a handful of London ghost signs using a variant of the consequences parlour game.
