David Nicholls is an author and screenwriter. He has published three novels, Starter for Ten, The Understudy and One Day, with a fourth to be published in late 2014. On television, his credits include Cold Feet and Shakespeare Retold – Much Ado About Nothing (both BAFTA nominations), two-part love story The 7.39 and the BBC’s adaptation of Hardy’s Tess of the D’Urbervilles, starring Gemma Arterton and Eddie Redmayne. In cinema, he has written adaptations of Sam Shepard’s Simpatico, Blake Morrison’s And When Did You Last See Your Father, Great Expectations, as well as his own novels Starter for Ten and One Day.
